Mary Rogers - Organist and Pianist
With Victoria’s Christchurch Cathedral Family Choir
Following fast on the footsteps of Music and Munch's seasonal programme of music ‘In A Sunny Salt Spring
Garden’ is another recital which turns to the seasons for inspiration.
The Church's calendar has for centuries found expression in music for the festivals which celebrate Christian
belief and worship. On Wednesday Aug. 20th, the Christ Church Cathedral Family Choir brings to Music and Munch a
programme titled ‘To Everything There Is A Season’, which will take us through the year from Advent to
The choir, under the leadership of Mary Rogers (Assistant Organist), is a mixed adult choir. They enjoy
providing music for the Sunday morning 9.l5am Family Eucharist. The choir sings before the service and then offers
an anthem during Communion. They are often called upon to provide choral anthems for Synod services, ordinations
and parish functions. The repertoire chosen for the Family Choir covers an exciting range of writing styles; this
includes gospel arrangements, music reflecting international influences and traditional sacred anthems.
Included in the programme on Wednesday will be two vocal solos and a flute solo played by Katherine Rogers,
with whom Music and Munch patrons will be familiar. She has given several recitals in this venue together with
Mary Rogers on piano and has proved herself to be a very promising young musician.
Free music begins at l2:l0 pm at All Saints' church followed by an optional lunch for $5.50.
